Creating and managing label artworks can be challenging, especially when a company manufactures a wide range of products that come in different shapes and sizes. Apart from adhering to the labeling guidelines for each product, they also need to ensure that every authorized team member has access to the latest designs. Without a single source of truth, the teams cannot have complete visibility of the artwork designs, which could lead to silos in operations, multiple iterations, compliance issues, and unnecessary delays in designing and printing the label artwork.
The lack of a single source of truth was one of the challenges our client Borosil faced recently.
Borosil is a leading Indian glassware company that manufactures laboratory glassware and microwavable kitchen products, disposal products, liquid handling systems, and explosion-proof lighting glassware for the education system. They faced the following challenges in managing artwork for their various products:
Lack of a single source of truth: Borosil relied on traditional methods like emails and Google Drive to store and share the artwork. This posed a challenge as team members couldn’t access project details, timelines, and associated files. They could not track important milestones or identify potential bottlenecks, which led to an overall delay in adhering to project timelines.
Silos between teams: There were over 45 people from different teams, such as marketing, graphic design, compliance, and external agencies working on the artwork. With no centralized information available, issues like miscommunication, duplicate artwork, and delays in approvals became a concern for Borosil.
Low First-Time-Right (FTR) rate: The first-time-right (FTR) metric measures how many artworks were approved the first time. Due to a lack of visibility into project requirements and silos between the teams, the designs had to go through multiple iterations. This increased the workload, delayed approvals, and impacted the timelines.
No clear visibility of the project’s status: Since all artworks were spread across different systems, the team members could not document their progress. A lack of a comprehensive overview made it difficult for the teams to track milestones and issues.
Delay in completing workflows: Since there was no clear communication between the teams, finishing the workflows on time became a concern. Nobody knew the reason behind the delay or had a clear idea about the timelines. With no reminders in place, team members could not adhere to the strict timelines. This delayed the overall workflow completion process.
Here’s how the ManageArtworks platform helped Borosil improve team collaboration, transparency, and compliance:
Here’s what Borosil had to say about their experience of working with ManageArtworks:
“ManageArtworks has significantly improved our workflows and artwork development process. The tool makes initiating new projects easy and setting up timelines for artwork development. The ability to store all relevant information in one central location has been a game-changer, allowing team members to collaborate and communicate seamlessly. The best part is that the tool is extremely easy to use with an intuitive design and robust features. Special thanks to the customer support team for their responsiveness and meaningful support. If you need an effective tool for managing timelines in artwork development, I highly recommend giving ManageArtworks a try.”
Borosil’s 45-member team faced significant challenges managing their product packaging.
They used legacy systems like emails and Google Drive to store and share the artwork, making it hard for all members to access the latest artwork versions. The silos between the teams further compounded the problem. With ManageArtworks, Borosil’s team members could organize and store all the versions of artworks in a centralized location. The team members could easily access the files, view the details and timelines, approve the artwork, and send them for printing. It reduced the number of iterations, improved the FTR rates, and enabled the teams to complete the artworks within the stipulated timeline.
